Open Notes: bowing whole notes (count 1, 2, 3, 4) with up and down bows on open strings

Practice correct bow grip.

Do the Lesson 1 bow exercises.

Go from Rest position to Playing position with the violin.

Practice holding the violin with just the neck (do this over a soft surface), your left hand on your right shoulder, for 30 seconds.

Practice playing whole notes on open strings, counting to 4 while drawing the bow evenly from frog to tip ("down bow"), then back ("up bow"). Practice on all four strings.

Memorize the string names and where they fall on a treble clef.

Practice tuning the violin if you have a tuner.
