Homework

  1. Practice correct bow grip.

  2. Do the Lesson 1 bow exercises.

  3. Go from Rest position to Playing position with the violin. 

  4. Practice holding the violin with just the neck (do this over a soft surface), your left hand on your right shoulder, for 30 seconds. 

  5. Practice playing whole notes on open strings, counting to 4 while drawing the bow evenly from frog to tip ("down bow"), then back ("up bow"). Practice on all four strings.

  6. Memorize the string names and where they fall on a treble clef. 

  7. Practice tuning the violin if you have a tuner.
